Yes, she is mine. Today marks FIVE years that I arrived in her streets….the city that never sleeps, met the girl who never sleeps… and I didn’t look back. It’s been a love hate relationship her and I…..more hate than love I’d say for the most part, but I couldn’t see myself anywhere else at the moment. After you have lived here, it Really is hard to live anywhere else. What? No round the clock public transportation?! No bars or restaurants that stay open past 2 am?! No 24/7 deliveries?! Not here! When you are used to hearing 5+ different languages spoken around you all day everyday….nothing else compares my friend. As someone who bores easily… I found my home. I can NEVER get bored here and I always have something to do.
I’ve shared on how tough life can be here, but I’ve gained life skills I could have never gotten in Los Angeles or Texas. The city can harden the softest of spirits but transforms you into an X-men type of super human. You quickly find your voice because you WILL NOT be heard in a city of 8 million people if you don’t learn to stand up and speak up for yourself. You learn boundaries, self preservation, the fact that NOTHING will shock you, and for me self love. I will never be the same and for that I thank you New York City. Thank you for kicking my ass and thank you for making me one of your own. Happy 5 Year Anniversary to us! Let’s see what else you have in store ;)
Good vibes always,
